The Managing Director of Ultimate Health Management Services, Lekan Ewenla, has been conferred with the African Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Leadership Award for 2026.
The yearly African CEO Leadership Award initiative is designed to identify, validate, celebrate and amplify the impact of Africa’s most transformative chief executives and senior business leaders.
In a statement, the management of Ultimate Health said the recognition of Ewenla mirrored the company’s strong performance in the health insurance sector, driven by innovation, professionalism and customer satisfaction.
According to management, health insurance remains central to making healthcare affordable, accessible and equitable and the organisation has continued to work closely with key stakeholders, including regulators, the National Health Insurance Authority and accredited healthcare providers.
Ewenla said Ultimate Health had adopted group, individual and family social health insurance programme (GIFSHIP) to deepen access among operators in the informal sector as well as small and medium-scale businesses, noting that the initiative was targeted at expanding coverage to a large proportion of Nigerians in that segment.
According to him, the company would also roll out new service level agreements with NHIA-accredited healthcare facilities nationwide, based on the regulator’s standard template, while planning sensitisation and interactive sessions to engage service providers and clarify operational issues.
