Expert charges youths to embrace entrepreneurship
The Managing Director, Nikon, Narendra Menon, has urged youths to cultivate entrepreneurial spirit to escape the youth unemployment ravaging the country.
Nikon, as part of its corporate social responsibility empowered some youths at Nikon School, which started six years ago to give beneficiaries a new lease of life.
The organisation has been offering free training to beneficiaries in effective handling of cameras where they can grow to become professionals and earn a living through photography.
“We organise free classes at Nikon School, and I need to add that Nikon School is a global entity set up to enhance the knowledge and skill of using camera with no charges imposed on trainees.
“We also bring in different resource persons not only to train the beneficiaries on the effective way of handling modern cameras, but to also encourage them that if they seriously take advantage of this empowerment programme, generating enough income to cater for their lives is guaranteed,” he explained.
Menon said the just-concluded training was also on the heels of making the beneficiaries get familiar with Zee 50 type of camera, which is handy, simple to operate and one of the best in the industry.
He added that the camera with its rich features also obliterates the burden of carrying heavy cameras and could make the beneficiaries become good photographers, videographers and cinematographers.
The Chief Executive disclosed that though the training was held in the past every six months, arrangement has been concluded to make it every quarter with renowned and professional photographers and videographers, while the training that was restricted to Lagos and Abuja would now extend to Port Harcourt.
Menon also disclosed that an arrangement was on to sign an agreement with Covenant University with a view to having the training School every quarter with certificates issued at the end of the training.
He added that the step was premised on encouraging more youths to become entrepreneurs, earning their living without working under anybody or depend on white collar job.
