The Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF) has lamented the nation’s high rate of unemployment, which has pushed many youths into vulnerable positions, where survival becomes a daily struggle.

The foundation’s chairman, Emeka Okwuosa, who equally lamented the nation’s economic hardship, said it was difficult for him to fathom Nigerians enduring such hardships without attempting to alleviate their sufferings.

Okwuosa said this during an event to celebrate the impact and accomplishments of the foundation across Nigeria through its work in healthcare, education and socio-economic empowerment programmes.

He lamented that an estimated 20 million Nigerian children, aged 6 to 18 are currently without access to education.

To address the nation’s economic woes, Okwuosa said that sustainable collaboration and partnership were essential to tackle the challenges facing the country and its citizens.

He highlighted how the foundation impacted lives and communities across 14 states in the country.
He said the foundation awarded scholarships and facilitated the treatment of health-related issues to some beneficiaries.

According to him, the impacts and initiatives have helped many individuals and communities to earn modest living.

He said that other programmes that would help individuals and families improve their lives and businesses like the women’s enterprise and the agro cluster cooperative programmes would be introduced next year.

This, he said, was aimed at empowering more beneficiaries and equips them with skills.
A member of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, Chibundu Okwuosa-Nwadei, said that lifting people has always driven the work the foundation does to sustainably impact the lives of individuals.

According to her: “We believe that when we have a positive impact on one person’s life, they can impact others.”
