Gov. Sanwo-olu, Abel Egbarin, Seyi Tinubu, others Win MNMA 2021

The Governor of Lagos, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu, CEO of Obimzy Records, Abel Egbarin, co-founder of The Noella Foundation, Seyi Tinubu and scores of other dignitaries went home with awards at the Media Nite-Out Award held in Lagos on Sunday.

The annual award organised by Solkem Communications founded by Sola Olugbemiro, had Sanwo-olu honoured as the Best Governor of the Year on Infrastructure even as Zamafara State Governor, Bello Muhammad (MON) was given the award of the media friendly Governor of the Year.

Mr Abel Egbarin, who owns a music label and talent management company got the Hero of the Pandemic Diamond Award as a Philanthropist with the heart of Gold.

The MD/CEO Obimzy Properties, Abel was honored for his immensely contribution during the awake deadly virus, COVID-19 pandemic that took the world on hold. Through his Obimzy Foundation; Abel and team shared over 30,000 special relief packages to various homes in Lagos and Sagamu of Ogun State.

Shade Morgan, Corporate Affairs Director of Nigeria Breweries PLC, got the award of the Most Vibrant Private Sector Spokesperson of the year.

Noella Foundation, co-founded by Mr Seyi Tinubu got the Hero of the Pandemic Diamond Award for their outstanding palliative support to give out more than 40,000 food boxes with each box containing about 30 meals to people to alleviate the impact of the forced movement restriction on people. The event is still on and PepsiCo has been brought on to join in the process.

TECNO Mobile also got the Hero of the Pandemic Diamond Award of Excellence, while media professionals were also honoured with different awards and of note was Leadership Newspaper which got the Newspaper of the year award.

The event in its 15th edition was held at Lagos Airport Hotel with the theme titled; Fake News & Social Media: Ensuring Accuracy, Objectivity in News Reportage; have many notable dignitaries like Hon. James Faleke, Babajide Otitoju, Hon. Commissioner for Information; Gbenga Omotosho, MD/CEO OND247LOGISTICS, Nnamdi Osueke, ace broadcaster and actor, Yemi Sodium, Fidelis Duker to name a few.

Meanwhile Zamfara Government, part of the awardee said that the measures put in place to curtail banditry, was yielding fruits.

The Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Media and Communications, to Zamfara Governor, Bello Muhammad Matawalle,
Alhaji Zailani Bappa disclosed at the media nite-out award that the two week- imposed ban on bandits had made the outlaws incapacitated, from the report reaching the state government.

Bappa said, “The major step government has taken now which are stringent to curtail banditry like stopping participation on market days, stopped buying and selling inside and outside the state, stopped the movement of livestock inside and outside the state, he has stopped the selling of fuel to vehicles for more than N10,000 and only in the local government headquarters, you can buy such amount of fuel and all black markets have been banned.

“And now the ban on telecommunication activities in Zamfara state, you cannot use your phone, you cannot go on internet for the past two weeks; only security operatives can communicate. All these are stringent that is bearing a lot of fruits.
