Groups to train next generation of global caregivers

Help One Foundation, Push Africa and International Partners have launched a nationwide caregiver training programme designed to tackle healthcare gaps.

Founder of Help One Foundation, James Expensive, explained that the initiative aims to empower young Nigerians with employable skills, reduce the burden of unemployment and provide the healthcare sector with trained manpower.

Noting that the caregiver programme was fully accredited by leading global bodies, he said the training will run for one year, with six months of classroom instruction and six months of hospital internship, ensuring participants acquire both knowledge and hands-on experience.

Executive Director of Push Africa, Doris Egberamen, said the collaboration reflected a rising movement to position Nigeria as a hub for skilled health workers, while addressing the global surge in demand for professional caregivers.

“This is more than training; it is a bridge to global opportunities for Africa’s youth, opening doors to healthcare careers across borders,” she said.

She added that graduates will receive globally recognised certifications, enabling them to work as healthcare assistants in hospitals and care homes both in Nigeria and internationally.

According to her: “The programme will officially commence on September 29, 2025, in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Benin City and Kano. Ahead of the rollout, a special seminar will take place on September 6, 2025, at the University of Lagos (Hall of Excellence) to brief the public and prospective applicants.”
