ICSDN organises training on skills acquisition to tackle recession
The International Centre for Sustainable Development, Nigeria (ICSDN), is organising a two-day national workshop to brainstorm on sustainable human development anchored on skills acquisition to help the country exit recession.
Organisers of the workshop with the theme: “Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programmes: A Pathway for Exiting Economic Recession,” scheduled for July 20, would be the first of its kind in Africa and would focus on redirecting government energy to the growth and development of the Nigerian youth for better productivity.
A statement by the Secretary General of ICSDN, Pureheart Loveday in Abuja said that the publishers of the Handbook of Skill Acquisition Training and Empowerment Programmes would partner stakeholders, particularly all tiers of governments to ensure that the need for a renewed efforts at building a stronger and more economically reliable nation was imbibed by all who will attend the workshop.
It further stated that the specific goals of the workshop includes: collaborating with all tiers of Government, mobilise the private sector, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and general public to: “support the Federal Government’s Change Agenda and her pragmatic efforts towards exiting Nigeria out of her present economic recession using the platforms of Skill Acquisition Training and Empowerments.”
“It would create awareness on the benefits of incorporating Vocational and Technical Education into the Conventional Academic Curricula that will promote individual self-sufficiency, income generation and multiple job opportunities for graduates of such tertiary institutions.
“To work out ways on how already existing Government Funded Institutions and Establishments can be used to lift Artisanal Outfits and Artisans for optimal productivities,” the statement read in part.
