Chairman of Abia State of NLC, Okoro Ogbonnaya, said this while introducing the pioneer state MOUN executives, which had Chukwunyere Egwim and Silvanus Nwachukwu as chairman and secretary, respectively to the media.
Ogbonnaya said that MOUN, having been registered under the Trade Union Act of CAP T14 of 2005 as amended, has, under the registration, become the only official government-recognised umbrella body for all motorcycle operators nationwide.
He solicited the support of government, security agencies, and the public to enable MOUN and its members to achieve success and seamless kick-off of their operations in Abia State.
Egwim, who said that his led MOUN would address many wrongs in the motorcycle operation, called for a database of the operators to check acts of criminalities and prevent infiltrators into the business, especially by non-Abia State-based operators.
In Abia, commercial motorcycle operations had been restricted to rural areas and the outskirts of the city.
