NACCIMA elects new national officers

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) recently held its 63rd yearly general meeting (AGM) at Ado Ekiti, where new officers were elected to lead the association for the next two years.

Director-General, NACCIMA, Sola Obadimu, said the election, which was conducted in a free, fair and credible manner, saw a large turnout of members from across various chambers of the association in the country.

During the meeting, Dele Oye emerged as the 22nd national president, after a keenly contested election.

Oye brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served in various capacities in the association, as past President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 2008 to 2011.

Other officers elected included Jani Ibrahim as first deputy president; Emi Membere-Otaji as second deputy president; Prof. Anthony Idigbe as a national legal adviser; Gabriel Idahosa as national treasurer and Uba Tanko Mijinyawa as deputy national treasurer.

In his acceptance speech, Oye expressed gratitude to members for their trust and confidence in him, promising to deliver on campaign promises and work tirelessly to promote members’ interests.

He also pledged to work closely with the other elected officers and staff of NACCIMA to ensure the association continues to promote economic growth and development in Nigeria.

The election of new officers marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of NACCIMA, as it is the first time since 1960, power within the South West geo-business zone of NACCIMA shifted from Lagos and Ogun States Chambers of Commerce to Ekiti State Chamber of Commerce. Members were optimistic about the prospects of the association under the new leadership.
