NAPA confers professional service award on Amibor

The Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA) has conferred professional service award on Dr. Kingsley Amibor.

The Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA) has conferred professional service award on Dr. Kingsley Amibor.

Amibor, a Deputy Director, Pharmaceutical Services at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, Delta State, received NAPA Award of Excellence in Hospital Pharmacy, at the 19th yearly national scientific conference of the association.

At FMC, he is involved in policy formulation and providing focused leadership to the pharmacy department as a member of pharmacy top management.

Elated Amibor, said with the award, the narrative was changing in the hospital pharmacy landscape.

He said: “When I was campaigning for the office of National Chairman of Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN) in 2018, traditional dispensing was the order of the day, with some centres still engaging in window dispensing.

“We promised to rebrand and reposition hospital pharmacy practice and immediately put in place an eight-point agenda to assist us in realising our objectives. Realising the immense knowledge base and huge intellectual capacity of pharmacists in academia, we decided to collaborate with NAPA members and succeeded in co-opting them into our various committees.

“Whatever success that was achieved in hospital practice in the last couple of years was achieved largely through collaborative efforts with NAPA members in the areas of research, pharmaceutical care adoption and specialisation, among others.”

Amibor is a fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP), where he specialised in clinical pharmacy.
