Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu

There is no doubt that Nigeria has enough human capital to place its economy as amongst the most developed in the world. But today, very few states have made a cogent attempt at developing their human capital.

With the immense potential of extraordinary talent in the hands of millions of Nigerians, our leaders across the local government level, to the state government and the federal government have deliberately ignored the dynamic ability millions of Nigerians possess. Thus they have made it a tradition to wait until month end to collect their own share of the Federal Allocation, while some states continue to invent diverse means of growing their GDP.

However, in all of these, one state stands tall with its sublime sense of political and economic willpower to develop and grow significantly, the prosperity of its people through unique home-grown initiative. This, the executive director of Emagez Solution Joshua Uwabor, gives as the yardstick why Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, the Executive Governor of Abia State is being honoured with the award of Investor Friendly State at this year’s Nigeria Entrepreneurs Award.

In his words, ‘Gov. Ikpeazu has seized the moment through strategically upholding the “Made in Aba” initiative. We at the Nigeria Entrepreneurs Award believe strongly that the time has come to celebrate entrepreneurial champions, who not only excel in their corporate business but who also excel in people and investor-friendly policies. This Gov. Ikpeazu has taken to a laudable height amongst all the states in Nigeria’.

In several years, Abia State and Aba, which by every means is the commercial nerve centre of eastern Nigeria, has been plagued with a certain lack of direction to steer its wonderful craftsmen to the peak of their beliefs and career. It has become a norm across Africa and probably the world hears that Aba has every existing prospective to be amongst the leading manufacturing hub in the world. But that has never come to fruition. Aba has all the indices. Aba has all the human capital. The creativity and willpower to succeed have never been in doubt as long as it concerns Aba. But the challenge has always leadership, at the state level. Which governor will turn this tide?
Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu has turned the tide dramatically. He believes in Aba. He knows Aba, and he has repeatedly proven in virtually every forum, that Aba can be the leading hub of Africa’s manufacturing industries in very few years to come.

The fact that governance in Africa has somehow lost touch with creative means aimed at developing its human capital has become a continental failure in over many years. However, it is also noteworthy to state categorically that some policymakers across Africa are still relentless. They continue to invent and re-invent new means of putting the people first. They continue to research new vistas of economic prosperity. They continue to remain committed to their electoral promises, and despite the realities of governance, they remain on course with steadily steering her people towards the much-anticipated promise land.

At the onset of his tenure, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu made it crystal clear, that he would drive Aba’s industrial capacity towards true wealth. Create the much needed economic atmosphere and empower the minds of the people through his conviction that the future belongs to Aba. For him, Made in Aba should be a household name across the globe. Made in Aba should be synonymous with world-class brands.

Investor Friendly State 2017 is an award well deserved by the Abia State Government at this year’s upcoming edition of the Nigeria Entrepreneurs Award. On the 7th of December 2017 at the Ladi Kwali Hall of Sheraton Abuja, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu will clinch the top prize for his efforts at putting Made in Aba in a new light never before initiated by any of his predecessors.

Now in its 4th edition, Nigeria Entrepreneurs Award have celebrated some of the best-known personalities in corporate Nigeria, some of the winners of this prestigious and highly celebrated Award exemplify the very best in their business.

This year’s edition of the Award promises to be a world-class event that will leave all those who attend with a lasting impression and business relationships that will change their businesses for the best. And for Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, this is an honour well deserved.
