Okitipupa Oil Palm (OOP) Plc, located in Ondo State has appointed Taiwo Adewole as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer with effect from May.

Before his appointment, Adewole was the General Manager of the agro-allied firm between September 2018 and May 2023. Stakeholders in the oil business, believed his elevation by the board of directors was a result of his feat in resuscitating and re-positioning the erstwhile moribund company, which they alleged could neither pay dividends nor fulfill its obligations to land-owners, as well as banks’ indebtedness for almost 20 years.

They said that Adewole’s managerial and leadership prowess was first recognised by owners of the firm on his excellent performance in 2018, where he led a management consultancy team for the onerous task of reviving the distressed company.

The move, they added compelled the board just after six months of leading the consultancy team to appoint him General Manager and chief executive of the firm in September of the same year.

Adewole worked in many organisations before joining OOP Plc, like Managing Director, Safewheeler Limited and Nestle, among others. He had his university education at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State, a Bachelor of Agriculture in 1990, and a Master’s Degree in Crop Production with a specialisation in Agroforestry in August 1994.

He belonged to numerous professional bodies, including the Fellow Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria.  Adewole was among the few individuals recognised in 2021 by both The Guardian Newspapers and Tell Magazine for exceptional management leadership.
