Prisons controller, others promoted


Controller of Prisons in Lagos State, Tunde Ladipo has been elevated to the rank of Assistant Controller General (ACG) out of 105 officers who attended the promotion interview. Ladipo stated this during a presentation of Certificate of Honour and Commendation by Prisoners Care Support Association (PCSA) for an outstanding service in Nigerian Prisons to humanity.

While presenting the certificate, the president of the association, Princess Sereba Agiobu-Kemmer Pearse commended him for an exemplar selfless service to the Nigerian Prison Service Lagos State command. She said: “You have been a role model who goes beyond dictates of duty and family. You have been an example to both staff and everyone in this State”.

Speaking on his promotion, he expressed gratitude to God for his promotion.“The Lord has not forgotten to bless me with this promotion because out of 105 of us that attended the interview, 18 of us were promoted and I was lucky to be among those that were promoted.”Ladipo who recounted some of his success as Lagos Controller of Prisons Service noted that since he came in to office, Lagos Prisons have not recorded any prison break.

“Since I was posted here as the Controller of Lagos State Prisons, there have not been any record of prison break which has added to the peace we are enjoying in Lagos State now amidst some challenges though. “This is largely due to the support we have from members of your Association carrying out humanitarian activities and services to those in prison and even the staff. So much so that Lagos State Command is ranked first and in the forefront of rehabilitation programmes.

“This promotion, Certificate of Honour and Commendation will encourage me to do more than I am doing presently,” he stated.Speaking on Ladipo’s promotion, some officers of Lagos State Prison Service corroborated the observations made by the president of the Prisoners Care and Support Association an organization comprising 78 Charitable organisations and individuals involved in humanitarian activities in the Nigerian Prisons for a job well done.

Mrs Comfort Obioso, Assistant Controller of Prisons and Head of the Welfare Unit, Lagos Command said Ladipo a role model. Meanwhile, the Comptroller General of prisons, Ja’afaru Ahmed, while congratulating the promoted officers, enjoined them to see the elevation as a call to higher responsibility that required greater commitment and professionalism.
