Total trains women on wealth creation, economic advancement

Determined to ensure the survival of women in the nation’s economy, Total Exploration and Production Nigeria (TEPNG), has trained over 100 women in the Niger Delta Region on wealth creation, self-sufficiency, and economic advancement.

Determined to ensure the survival of women in the nation’s economy, Total Exploration and Production Nigeria (TEPNG), has trained over 100 women in the Niger Delta Region on wealth creation, self-sufficiency, and economic advancement.

TEPNG’s Deputy Managing Director, Port Harcourt district, Mr Francois Le Cocq, at the training organised to commemorate the 2018 Women’s Day for women from its host communities, at the weekend in Port Harcourt, charged the participants to explore the value chains of the formal and informal sectors of the local economy in their respective communities.

He charged them that to conquer poverty and confront associated challenges that have to harness all economic opportunities around them
Le cocq said, “This workshop is organised to build the capacities of women in our host communities towards enhancing their ability to recognise and exploit entrepreneurial opportunities to attain self-sufficiency, economic advancement and ultimate wealth creation for all, women need to harness the various opportunities that would come their way in their march towards economic independence”
 
“Women should devote time to reflect on the progress they have made or develop the potential to make individually and collectively impact in different spheres of life.”

The guest speaker at the workshop, Mrs Mounfiq Abu, emphasised the need for women to strive to survive and be determined to improve their lives as formidable individuals who have the ability to surpass their imagination.She charged them to go beyond their fears, chart their own course and be self-reliant.

Meanwhile, the firm announced that it has continued to demonstrate commitment to the advancement of women and youths through various support programs such as trainings on skills acquisition with starter- packs to empower them amongst others.The company said, it is also building a skill acquisition centre currently at the premises of the state Ministry of Women Affairs, Port Harcourt.
