The Trustfund Pension Limited has donated 5,000 reflective jackets as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), to boost the efficiency of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Presenting the items in Abuja, the Managing Director, Trustfund Pensions, Mrs Helen Da-Souza, who bemoaned the high number of road crashes in Nigeria, explained that the jackets would boost the readiness of FRSC officers to carry out rescue mission as well as patrolling the roads at night.

Da-Souza lauded the management of the FRSC for effectively deploying its staffers across the country despite acute shortage of personnel to prevent loss of lives and property.

She said road crashes rob Nigeria of quality manpower that cut across all the professional bodies, saying, “road crashes rob Nigeria of its quality citizens both young and old. Preventing road crashes is very important because it will save a lot of lives. The need to have reflective jackets for all FRSC officers is very crucial to stopping road crashes especially at night or when the atmosphere is not too clear. It is even more important now that the Harmattan is here. The presence of Harmattan couple with the high traffic that is often associated with the Yuletide period.”

She assured that the company would continue to support the FRSC to safeguard lives and move the nation forward.

Responding, Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, said the jackets would serve their personnel in traffic control especially during the Yuletide period fast approaching.

He commended Trustfund for the donation, which he disclosed has been an annual ritual since 2015, when the company donated 10,000 jackets.

However, he cautioned road users to be cautious especially during the festive season, saying there are many on-going construction of roads nationwide that require road diversions as well as speed bumps.
