Zulum to engage 2,000 automobile mechanics in Borno
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State is to engage 2,000 automobile mechanics by empowering them to set up their workshops. The workshops are to be sited in six villages of Maiduguri, the state capital.
According to him, auto mechanics for the empowerment programme are drawn from the state branch of the Nigeria Automobile Technical Association (NATA).
While meeting with members of NATA in Maiduguri recently, he said that “this administration will also establish a mechanic village and training centre for all your members,” adding that they could facilitate them acquire more skills in modern automobile repairs and maintenance.
He said the establishment of six auto-repair workshops; and training centre, is to enable mechanics to cope with “emerging technological demands” in auto repairs and maintenance.
While commending mechanics for their support and cooperation with his administration, he said: “You’re also to continue to pray and fast, until peace is restored in this state.” He also identified some elderly mechanics during the meeting, including the ones he had been patronizing for over two decades.
