THE Founder of AgbekeAlaso-Oke Designs, a Nigerian fashion brand, Joan Adu, has launched a book, titled: AgbekeAlaso-Oke: A Story of Passion, Art & Growth, documenting its 10-year journey of reimagining indigenous Aso-Oke for contemporary fashion.
The launch was also used to celebrate a decade of creativity, entrepreneurship and cultural expression since the brand started its journey.
AgbekeAlaso-Oke Designs has spent the last decade exploring the versatility of Aso-Oke, blending the richness of Nigerian heritage textiles with modern design to create distinctive fashion pieces.
The book launch, held in Lagos recently, marked a double milestone: the unveiling of a publication chronicling the brand’s journey and the celebration of its 10th anniversary. The event brought together industry professionals and guests to celebrate creativity, resilience and the power of storytelling in building enduring brands.
It featured a panel that had industry leaders, including the Group Managing Director of TDA Group, Dare Aliu; Founder and Creative Director of DTCLOTHINGS, Odutola Damilola; and Director of Content at Moniepoint Inc., Obinna Okerekeocha.
Speaking on the significance of the book and the anniversary, Adu said:”This book represents more than 10 years in business; it is a celebration of passion, faith, resilience and the courage to build something meaningful.
“As AgbekeAlaso-Oke marks its 10th anniversary, I am grateful for the journey, the lessons and the opportunity to tell our story. I hope it inspires other entrepreneurs and creatives to pursue their vision, embrace their heritage and recognise that every meaningful journey deserves to be documented.”
Beyond commemorating a business milestone, the book – AgbekeAlaso-Oke: A Story of Passion, Art & Growth, celebrates the possibilities that emerge when cultural heritage meets contemporary creativity. It also reflects Adu’s commitment to preserving the story behind the brand and inspiring others to build businesses rooted in purpose and authenticity.
