Dr. Ope Banwo book, The Kingmaker of Muguland, is set for November 3, 2024 release. Considered as honest, unflinching portrayal of Muguland’s power play, the book interrogates the corrupt and entrenched power structure of Muguland and elite’s desire to capture the soul of Mugulanland.

It looks at the revolutionary challenges from Paul Igwe – a reformist turned reluctant revolutionary.

An uncommon plotting, particularly, where voodoo verdict and assassination are the consequences, the few chapters released online many are eagerly awaiting its full release.

The Kingmaker of Muguland has been described as a scathing indictment of post-colonial African governments, where coups, political assassinations, and betrayal are the currency of power.

While raising stakes through reviews and critical comments, the book is not only suspenseful, it creatively veiled references to real politicians and power brokers.

“This isn’t just a book— The Kingmaker of Muguland is a ticking time bomb,” says one early reviewer. “It tears the mask off the so-called leaders who hide behind fake promises and exposes their true faces mask in ruthless, power-obsessed, and dangerous facades.”

The novel’s central figure, the Kingmaker, operates in the shadows, pulling strings that decide the fates of leaders, nations, and even innocent citizens. Readers are left wondering who the real villains are —the corrupt leaders or the kingmaker himself, who pulls the strings.
