The Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), Lagos chapter, will from October 26 to November 3, hold its 21st October Rain exhibition at Freedom Park, Lagos.

According to the Lagos State Chairman of SNA, Idowu Sonaya, this year’s event with theme, ‘When Thoughts Becomes Reality’ will promote art professionalism, celebrate artworks and also serve as avenue to honour masters for their contributions to the growth and development of art in the country.

He disclosed that two great art icons, Bisi Silva and Bisi Fakeye, would be posthumously honoured for their contributions to the growth and development of creative arts in the country.

The Vice Chairman of the organisation, Mr Kola Olojokosoko revealed that the yearly exhibition has been a hallmark of excellence from its inception, aside serving as platform to discover of new talents. He added that this year’s edition will be better than the previous ones.

SNA President, Oliver Enwonwu, called on government and corporate bodies to partner the association to grow the economy, saying that Nigeria needs to diversify its economy by investing in arts. He said: “Art is a good business to trade-in. It is important to note that each year, this association goes out for sponsorship from cooperate bodies, but found out that it is easy to support musical concerts than to the arts.”

According to him, October Rain Exhibition will continue to bridge the gap between the older generation and younger ones, adding that the event will continue to grow and gain global recognition.
