Iwinaobomwen -The Works of my Hands, a solo show of embossed fabric designs by Dr. (Mrs.) Theresa Uvbi Osaigbovo, was recently held at the Chidi Black Koncepts Gallery, Benin City.

The show was an opportunity for teaching basic skills of textile designs. It had a very warm reception, as it was also a show that gave opportunity for the town and gown to meet and interact.

The title of the show actually attracted so many people from outside the university. They seemed to have been anxious to see as well as listen to the statement the artist, Osaigbovo, had to make on the need for people to acquire skills in view of capacity building.

Professor Lilian Imuetiyan Salami, Vice – Chancellor, University of Benin, who was represented by the Deputy Vice – Chancellor (Ekenwan Campus), Prof. B. A. Ayinde, declared the show open.

Present at the ceremony was a cross section of teaching and non-teaching staff of the University of Benin and as well as the host community. Among members of staff present were Prof. Efemena Ononeme and his wife; Prof Manasseh Imonikebe and his wife; Dean of Faculty Arts, Prof C. Ugolo; Dr Kingsley Emeriewen (Assoc. Prof); Dr. E. Oghator, Director of Public Administration, University of Benin and curator National Gallery of Arts (NGA), Benin City, Owolabi, among other dignitaries.
