A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed July 7, 2026, for the hearing of all pending applications and the substantive suit filed by the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), seeking to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise the party’s Kabir Turaki-led interim National Working Committee.
Justice Salim Ibrahim set the date on Tuesday after parties agreed to exchange all outstanding court processes before the next hearing. The court directed all parties to file and serve their documents on or before July 6, warning that no further delays would be entertained.
The plaintiffs argue that INEC should recognise the interim leadership and update the PDP’s records ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting the commission is bound to comply with existing court judgments that, they claim, invalidated the party’s 2025 national convention and affirmed the suspension of some party officials.
