Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to engaging Nigerians in the Diaspora, describing their intellect and contributions as critical to Nigeria’s future.

Shettima spoke at a Town Hall meeting with the Nigerian Diaspora Community in the United States, held in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Vice President to interact with Nigerians residing in the United States and discuss ways of strengthening their connection with the country.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who was at the meeting, shared the following account on her X page:

“DATELINE: NEW YORK- MEETING WITH NIGERIAN COMMUNITY IN USA.

At the Town Hall meeting with the Nigerian Diaspora Community in the United States on the sidelines of the 81st session United Nations General Assembly, it was a great opportunity to have a candid interaction with our nationals residing in the United States who are doing us proud.

The Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria assured that Nigeria would continue to leverage the intellect of the Diaspora community, which is the greatest resource of the future.

‘ What unites us, as Nigerians, is far greater than what divides us’, he stated.

It was a highly attended event organized by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission and hosted at Nigeria House, New York.”

The engagement highlights the Federal Government’s continued efforts to strengthen relations with Nigerians living abroad and tap into their expertise, experience and contributions to national development.
