Akande is an insurance practitioner with over thirty-nine (39) years cognate experience. He has held various positions in insurance and brokerage companies such as Royal Exchange Assurance Nigeria Plc, Great Nigeria Insurance Plc and Scib Nigeria & Company Limited from where he recently retired.

He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and a Governing Council member of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers.
