Ebube Lisa Kingsley: Multitalented entertainer
My name is Ebube Lisa Kingsley Ukwuoma. I am eight years old and in Basic IV. I am from Imo State, but live with my parents in Lagos.
What are you into?
I sing, dance, and model. I was also an actor, while still in school.
How did your journey into the entertainment world begin?
It all started when I was four years old. I had always liked watching Fashion One TV and wished to be like one of the skinny models. However, when my mom learned of my interest in the programme, she stopped me from watching it. She did this because she thought I was depriving myself of food, just to be like the models.
One day, I was watching Afro Music Pop on TV with my mom and saw Yemi Alade singing and dancing to a song titled: Johnny. Through that, I picked interest in watching music and my mom did not complain about it.
At age five, my passion for music increased. But one Saturday morning, as I was watching some kids dance on television, I told my mom I would like to learn how to dance. After much trouble from me, she got a ballet instructor and that was how my dancing career began.
When I was seven, I wanted to be a member of my church choir, but since only adults performed in the choir, mom had to get me a music instructor, who has been teaching me to date.
What are your challenges so far?
I do not have any challenge for now, as I am enjoying every bit of what I am doing. I am driven by my passion; nobody talked me into doing what I am doing. I love what I am doing and my parents are very supportive. In fact, they made things easier for me than I had imagined.
How do you balance school and your passion?
Most times, I do my rehearsals and shootings at weekends, to prevent the two from clashing. My studies have never been affected by what I do, as I always find a way to strike a balance.
Who are your role models?
My role models are Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Patoranking, and Davido. They sing very well and have impacted the society with their works.
Have you started making money from entertainment?
For now, it is strictly for passion and I know that with time, my efforts will begin to bring in money. I want to properly develop myself, attain excellence and other things will fall into place. However, I was paid for the first movie I featured in.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I see myself doing great things in my musical career. I would have dropped my own album and also get different role models contracts.
What is your advice to other kids?
I want them to follow their minds, develop their talents, and do not allow anybody to discourage them from aiming high or advancing in their career. They should keep on pushing because there is no age limit to success.
I also advise parents to always support their children to develop their skills. They should not kill their children’s dreams but guide them to achieve them and reach for greater heights.
