The federal government has warned heads of agencies that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will not tolerate corruption in any guise as perpetrators would be prosecuted not minding the status of the individual involved.
Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, gave the warning, yesterday, at the inauguration for newly-appointed chief executive officers of agencies under the ministry.
Uzoka-Anite said: “You should know that your appointment is critical to the achievement of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of the President and I hope that as chief executive officers of different agencies, you will bring your much-needed wealth of experience and professionalism to bear in the operations of your agencies to ensure that you achieve your mandate.”
The ministry has about eighty percent of agency chief executives sacked by the current administration. The minister reminded the heads of the agencies that they are expected to align the strategic mandate of their agencies with the eight-point agenda (priority areas) of the government, which includes ending poverty, economic growth and job creation, access to capital, inclusivity, security and fairness.
“It is important that your activities and achievements will be monitored and assessed to score your performances periodically based on the above priority areas of government.
“As chief executive officers of the different agencies, you are expected to discharge your responsibilities by the Public Service Rules, Financial Regulations and other extant regulations governing the public service,” she said.
