Lagos Aviation Academy rewards IATA’s best graduate
The Lagos Aviation Academy has rewarded the best graduating student for the ‘International Air Transport Associations (IATA) managing the travel business course’, Adeola Alade, with a cash prize and automatic job offer.
Alade, who was recently celebrated at the Opebi-Ikeja campus of the academy distinguished herself in the school and emerged as the overall best student for the March 2019 set.
Managing Director of the Academy, Bernard Bankole, said the achievement is both a feat for Alade and the school, which was established less than three years ago.
Bankole, who is also the President of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA), said his drive for professionalism and human capacity development in the air travel industry informed the huge investment in the institution and repositioning of NANTA.
He said the beauty of it all is the new window of opportunities for Nigerian youths to learn new skills and gainfully engage in the travel business.
“We all can now tell Nigerians that claim to be jobless to tap into opportunities in air travel. This is an industry that contributes over N500 billion to economies in a year. As the biggest travel agency in the industry today, we (Finchglow travels) contribute less than 10 per cent of the total returns. So, we all have opportunities to benefit from one of the most dynamic industries, once we learn to do it professionally and with sacrifices,” Bankole said.
Alade, a graduate of Business Administration, said travel and tourism had always being her passion, and was glad to be “living my dreams already” through opportunities availed by the academy.
“The course raised my social and travel business management skills. To succeed in this field, you need passion for travels. It is impossible to succeed without passion, though you also need to be sociable, friendly, flexible and patient,” she advised.
