Moniepoint Inc said it disbursed more than $700 million in loans to Nigerian micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in 2025 as the fintech deepens its push to expand financial inclusion and business growth across the country.
According to the company’s 2025 Impact Report, the lender now serves more than 20 million businesses and individuals across Africa, while its subsidiaries process over $250 billion in annual digital payment transactions.
The report showed that three out of every four merchants who received Moniepoint loans accessed formal business credit for the first time, highlighting the role of digital lending in addressing the financing gap in the sector.
Moniepoint’s Co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer, Tosin Eniolorunda, said the company has evolved from a financial technology provider into an economic transformation platform through payments, lending and business management solutions.
He said the company recorded significant milestones in 2025, including banking more than 20 million customers, disbursing over $700 million in MSME loans and expanding lending to women-owned businesses by more than 300 per cent.
The report noted that businesses receiving loans experienced a 36 per cent increase in average transaction value, while 88 per cent of surveyed merchants said their businesses grew after accessing Moniepoint credit.
It also found that 27 per cent of businesses increased their workforce after obtaining financing, with merchants on the platform employing more than eight million people in 2025.
Moniepoint said access to credit remained a major challenge for Nigerian MSMEs, citing an estimated $32.2 billion financing gap that continues to constrain business expansion.
The company said it leveraged transaction data rather than traditional collateral requirements to assess borrowers’ creditworthiness, making loans accessible to businesses excluded from conventional banking.
Beyond lending, the fintech reported enabling 100 million people to access digital payments through its nationwide network of POS terminals, which operate across all 774 local government areas in Nigeria.
