The Ogun State Police Command has set up a crack team to rescue the wife of a former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu from kidnappers.
Odumosu was reportedly kidnapped on 16 January 2025.
The Ogun State Police Spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, made this known to the press in Abeokuta on Friday.
The victim was reportedly kidnapped at her residence around 9:55pm Aminu Street, Orange Estate at Arepo in the Obafemi Owode Local Area of Ogun while entering her home.
Odumosu was reportedly dragged out of her Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle, taking her through a swampy area to an unknown location by four masked men.
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Warewa Division, has led policemen to the scene where they are currently searching the swampy bush area,” she said.
According to the spokesperson, the DPO had also contacted the heads of the Warewa and Maaba communities to deploy local security forces to the riverine area.
Odutola said the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, had been briefed and that all operations had been deployed to assist with digital intelligence to ensure the victim’s rescue.
