Seplat, NPDC offer free eye care to patients in Edo, Delta

Hundreds of residents in Benin City, yesterday, benefited from Seplat Energy’s free eye care program tagged, “Eye Can See”, under its Seplat Joint Venture (JV) Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative (CSR).

CSR Manager of Seplat Energy, Esther Icha, said the firm is committed to providing quality healthcare services to members of its host community in Edo and Delta state and has since inception, performed over 3,000 free eye surgeries.

On his part, Seplat Base Manager, Emmanuel Otakhine said Seplat Energy’s free eye care is a flagship programme of Seplat with a vision to ensure quality healthcare for residents in communities where the company operates.

Earlier, Representative of the Edo State Health Commissioner, Dr. Stephenson Osifo, who is the Director, Public Health, Edo state Ministry of Health, hailed Seplat Energy for taking up the responsibility to meet the health needs of Edo people.

He described the firm’s CSR initiative as a laudable program, urging all other corporate organisations in the country to emulate the firm in her commitment to improving CSR in her host communities.

Representative of Managing Director of NPDC, External director in NPDC, John Onyekama expressed optimism that the free eye care initiative is meeting the needs of Edo and Delta residents with good results, hence the partnership and support from NPDC.

In his remarks, Delta State Health Commissioner, Dr Patrick Ukah, who was represented at the event said Seplat Energy is at the forefront in caring for the local people stressing that their contributions to health and education is a good initiative that is appreciated by the Delta state government.
