
The Governing Council of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) has approved the promotion of 28 Professors and 58 other members of staff across various departments and cadres.
A statement from the Office of the Registrar, Mrs Adeusi Adenike, said the promotions were ratified by the governing council following series of evaluations by the institution’s appointment and promotion committee in respect of the 2024 staff performance review.
It noted that the promotions were part of the institution’s efforts to retain and motivate high-performing staff members, while encouraging a culture of dedication and academic achievement.
The committee had earlier approved the promotion of 22 Associate Professors to the rank of Professor, for final ratification by the council.
However, the council considered and ratified an addendum to the report by approving the promotion of six additional Associate Professors following external assessors’ reports on them, bringing the total number of pioneer BOUESTI-groomed professors to 28.
The council also confirmed the appointments of 76 staff, while 816 others were granted incremental credits for their satisfactory performances.In a related development, the appointments of Oluyede Aturamu, a Professor of Agricultural Economics, and Joseph Ekiran, a Professor of Economics, as Deputy Vice Chancellors, Academics and Research, and Development respectively, were also ratified by the council in line with extant regulations.
The duo had earlier been elected by the Senate of the university at its 39th statutory meeting held on July 25. The university expressed the hope that the promotions would enhance the quality of teaching, research and administration in the institution, as it continues its mission of advancing education and knowledge.
