Deputy President, Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Chief Yomi Otubela has charged government at all levels to implement the use of technology in the education sector to meet 21st century teaching and learning challenges. Otubela said this will help the less privileged learners in acquiring qualitative education and equip them with the needed skills for competition in the global society.

Speaking with reporters in Lagos on the 4th edition of Yomi Otubela Foundation (YOF) scholarship examination slated for April 25, the NAPPS boss said the programme is an avenue to provide quality education for the beneficiaries to attain their goals in life. He said, “YOF is a non governmental organisation, which seeks to support less privileged learners in acquiring qualitative education and equip them for favorable competition in the global society.

According to him, the foundation cardinal objective is to award full scholarship to qualified students of public and private schools within Nigeria and also from internally displaced camps across the country.“The scholarship examination has attracted a huge participation of candidates and held successfully in over 10 states across the country. Over 14 students had benefited from this foundation and we are still hoping to admit more this year. Also, we are happy to say that the past recipients of the scholarship awards in the primary and secondary school categories are doing well in their various classes as well as recipients in the university category.

“We need to point out that the foundation’s budget for YOF scholarship this year is 21.5million naira but we believe that no amount of money is too big to provide quality education for the beneficiaries to attain their goals in life.”He added that the foundation is committed to raising young adults for the country so that they can positively impact the country.

Otubela said the scholarship is open to candidates who are willing to study in Lagooz School, adding that the examination has been scheduled to hold on April 25 while registration for the scholarship will close on April 20.He however enjoined the government to invest solidly in the sector pointing out that “Nigeria has a challenge in giving quality education to the children.
