In line with its mission to empower educators, Crescent Bearers (1939),a non-governmental organisation dedicated to training teachers in modern teaching techniques, has successfully trained over 100 educators in the use of technology, particularly ‘gamified’ learning techniques.

The training drew participants from across the country, who actively engaged in the conference.
Participants lauded the training structure, the variety of sessions, and practical strategies shared by the facilitators.

A key highlight was the use of technology, especially gamified learning techniques, which resulted in constructive noise and made the sessions both informative and engaging.

The collaborative and innovative learning approaches fostered an atmosphere of shared knowledge, inspiring teachers to rethink traditional teaching methods.

Chairman of the group, Mr Dele Martins, said teachers must be opened to continuous training and emerging technologies to be able to impact their learners.

In the same vein, Chairman, Education Committee of the organisation, Dr Kemi Pinheiro, also pledged their commitment to empowering teachers, while urging them to acquire more knowledge through such exercises.

Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, presented a paper on Neuro-diversity and Inclusion, while Azeez Aliu, an official of the state government, participated in the panel discussion, where he highlighted government’s strategies on neurodiversity and inclusion in the education sector.

Key takeaways from the training included implementation of online games for students’ engagement, incorporation of interactive and collaborative learning techniques to foster teamwork and creativity in classrooms, and methods for blending technology with traditional teaching, emphasising the use of google classroom to enhance teacher-student interaction.

The facilitator, Brainy Oaks Education Consultants, Oyinkan Afolabi, emphasised the essence of future-focused training for teachers leading 21stcentury learners.

Afolabi noted that the goal was to equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to navigate the dynamic and evolving landscape of education.

He added that the training was aimed at empowering teachers to meet the needs of a diverse, tech-savvy, and globally connected generation of learners.

“Teachers, as lifelong learners and ethical role models, are expected todevelop competencies in pedagogy, classroom management, and subject expertise, while embodying professionalism through ethics, adaptability, and commitment,” Afolabi stated.
