Despite efforts by the State Government to renegotiate their demands, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of the Kaduna State University (KASU) chapter has commenced two weeks warning strike for the full implementation of its demands.

The decision to go on the warning strike was in sequel to a meeting held on Thursday by ASUU-KASU. This was the resolution reached by the Union leaders after hours of extensive deliberation.

Besides, hundreds of lecturers who attended the meeting maintained that they’re not going to be cowed into receiving the N300m earned allowances approved for them by the state government, while there are many contending issues like the 25- 35 percent agreement, autonomy, promotion arrears, etc

In a statement issued by the union on its official Facebook handle maintained that “owing to the expiration of the warning which elapsed today (Thursday). We have to come back to tell members what has so far transpired since we issued the two-week warning on 12th August,2026.

“And after serious deliberations, it was agreed we embark on a two-week warning strike after which we will come back to take a definite stand. And this is if, at the end of the two weeks, nothing is forthcoming, we have to close the university.

As at the time of filing the report, it was reported that the Union leaders are still meeting with the negotiation committee set up by the state government.
