Kano Deploys OMR Tech to Streamline Exam Process in Public Schools

Kano Educational Resources Department (KERD) has distributed Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Machines to examiners to streamline examination and upscale marking process in the state.

 

Besides, the department also furnished it’s technical staff with computer hardwares and technology in an efforts to digitalize the education system.

 

Items distributed include 50 Laptops; 120 Tablets; Optical Mark Reader Machines; OMR examine sheet; and EMS electronic Mark Sheet that enable the department migrates from manual to digital entry.

 

Unveiling the facilities at KERD headquarters in Kano, Commissioner for Education, Dr. Haruna Makoda explained that the initiative was part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s purpose leadership to digitalize education system.

 

Makoda, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Alh. Bashir Baffa Mohammad, stressed that the investment on technology was deliberately intended to meet global education practices in examination process.

 

The Commissioner reaffirmed the determination of Governor Yusuf vision to revive standard of education with the declaration of state of emergency and increasing budget in education.

 

On her part, the Permanent Secretary KERD, Hajiya Rabi Inuwa Hussaini disclosed the overall objective hinged at equipping the block chain with digital tools that enhance technology driving system and creation of software.

 

Hajiya Hussaini who applauded the state government for upscaling the technological transformation in the education system which he posited would further enhance service delivery.

 

” To today’s event will remain in history. The effect use of this technology would go along way to shift our system from manual to digital. This initiative was part of government’s commitment to bridge the gap between manual approach and technology”. Hajiya Hussaini noted.
