Lagos State Model College, Badore, has emerged winner of the ninth edition of the yearly essay and quiz competition organised by the Rotary International, District 9112, in collaboration with the the state Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
At the event, the school’s representatives in the competition, Oporuru Wisdom, Anyaorah Faustina and Oguntoye Emmanuel, won a trophy and each went home with an iPad.
Speaking on behalf of the 18 clubs that sponsored the competition, President, Rotary Club of Gbagada South, Afolabi Oluwasanu, said schools in each of the education district were asked to write an essay on a topic provided by the clubs and submitted to the districts.
According to him, the Tutor-General and officers in each district, thereafter, selected the best in each of the zones for the final round of the competition.
Oluwasanu noted that representatives of each of the three winning schools who were tested on economics, chemistry, current affairs, mathematics, and physics, aside being presented with trophies for their schools, also went home with iPads.
The president said this is the first time the project would cut across all the six education districts in Lagos State, as it was initially restricted to a district.
