The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed more than N527 million in institutional fees to 5,448 students of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) and the Niger Delta University (NDU), Bayelsa State, according to separate acknowledgement letters from the institutions.

The letters, signed by the management of both universities, confirmed receipt of the funds and expressed appreciation to NELFUND for the intervention aimed at easing the financial burden on students.

Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, acknowledged receiving N401,752,080 as the second batch of registration fee disbursement for the 2025/2026 academic session, covering 4,323 students.

In a letter dated April 29, 2026, and signed by the Bursar, Faruku Koko, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the university said the money was received through its e-Collection account on March 24, 2026.

The institution thanked the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Fund, Akintunde Sawyer, and his management for the support and expressed optimism for subsequent releases under the scheme.

Similarly, Niger Delta University confirmed the receipt of N126,070,000 for the payment of school fees for 1,125 students.

The acknowledgement letter, dated July 24, 2026, was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Allen Agih, who described the intervention as a significant boost to students and the institution.

“I hereby acknowledge with sincere appreciation the receipt of the sum of One Hundred and Twenty-Six Million and Seventy Thousand Naira (N126,070,000.00) only disbursed by Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND),” Agih stated.

He added that the funds had been received in support of 1,125 students of the university for the payment of their school fees, while commending NELFUND for its continued commitment to advancing education and institutional development.
