An application called Petroapp has been launched to help integrate operations in Nigeria’s oil and gas downstream sector.

The Managing Director, Axiom Tech Limited, Andre Bassey who also doubles as Co-founder Petroapp, explained that the move was imperative owing to the fact that the downstream sector of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry is bedevilled by plethora of challenges, which have virtually wiped out the margins of the oil marketing and trading companies, as well as other importers of petroleum products.

Speaking at the formal launch of petro app, he said the app was designed for ease of loading operations in the downstream sub sector, adding that the app would also make daily operations very easy for the average marketers.

In his words: “It is going to be a five-year process and we are starting off today to be able to capture phase one which are the ground marketers while also looking at the tank farm owners as well.

“The app has all the various depots in the country to be able to see a list of the entire tank farms in the country and their prices as to what they are selling in real time and it would also facilitate easy business decision making where you can decide which depot you can buy from. It allows the ground marketers to have a bigger business network as opposed what they were doing before.”

He added: “We are doing this purely as a service because we are a business entity. Our job is to simplify the retail need to move the products from place to place while also allowing a greater synergy. Petro App is a very interesting application, designed to enable downstream marketers in Nigeria to make basic business decisions such as trying to know where their preferred depot would be; whether it is Port Harcourt, Calabar, Kaduna and wherever you may find petroleum products.

“One can make business decisions on where and how to reload their products, know pricing and also get a good directory for getting trucks option, get forecast as well, so that they don’t make wrong decisions. The App also gives its users the relevant petroleum news from the regulators.”
