In a bid to address Nigeria’s persistent electricity challenges through off-grid and intelligent solar technologies, global solar technology company GoodWe has unveiled a range of energy solutions.

Speaking during the launch, the company’s representative in Nigeria, Mr Lucas Huan, said Nigeria required “reliable power, not just better power,” stressing that the company’s strategy was driven by extensive market research aimed at understanding the country’s unique energy needs and challenges.

Huan said the company would introduce new off-grid products specifically designed for Nigeria, offering integrated solar and battery storage systems to provide dependable electricity for homes and businesses.

He noted that the products were developed to reduce dependence on conventional power sources while improving energy reliability.

According to him, GoodWe has established a local team in Lagos to provide sales, technical support and after-sales services, adding that the company’s office in Ikeja would serve as its West African headquarters.

He said the company, which operates manufacturing facilities in China and Vietnam, was committed to a long-term presence in Nigeria and planned to expand its local workforce to strengthen customer service and technical support.

Huan added that GoodWe would pursue sustainable growth through selective partnerships while creating value for partners through marketing support and training programmes. He also noted that the company invests more than eight per cent of its annual revenue in research and development to drive innovation.

Also speaking, Senior Solution Engineer, GoodWe, Alaeddine Ouelhazi, said the newly launched EO G2 residential energy solution was designed to simplify solar energy management while improving efficiency and reliability.

‎He explained that the system integrates solar generation, battery storage and grid interaction into a single intelligent platform, enabling homeowners to reduce electricity costs, improve energy independence and enjoy more dependable power.

Ouelhazi said the product also offers simplified installation for technicians, enhanced safety features and improved long-term performance, describing it as a new benchmark for residential energy solutions across Africa.

‎He noted that the technology was developed in response to energy realities in Nigeria and other African countries, where electricity supply is often unstable and rural electrification remains limited.

According to him, frequent power fluctuations, rising fuel costs, dependence on generators, and the high operating costs and noise associated with conventional backup power systems have increased demand for smarter energy alternatives.

He added that the products were also designed to withstand regional environmental conditions, including dusty weather that can affect the performance of conventional power equipment, making intelligent energy systems a more practical solution for consumers.
