2020 UTME: UNILORIN tops list of admission seekers’ choice

With not less than 103,582 applications representing 5.31 percent of all applications into higher education for 2020, the institution has maintained being the most subscribed tertiary institution in Nigeria.

Data obtained from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) showed that like in previous years, degree programmes are the first choice of the over 1.9 million candidates who registered for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

About 95.13 per cent of applicants chose universities and degree awarding institutions above other tertiary institutions.

Those interested in obtaining the National Diploma (ND) offered in monotechnics and polytechnics are next with 2.99 per cent.

National Certificate in Education (NCE) awarding institutions follow with 1.86 per cent and National Innovation Diploma (NID) institutions had 0.02 of first choice applications.

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, came second for the fourth year, and received 82,984 applications or 4.26 per cent of all applications.

For the first time in nearly a decade, both the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Bayero University, Kano (BUK) rose to the third and fourth positions respectively.
