800 benefit from Navy’s free medical treatment in C’ River

About 800 persons residing in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State have benefited from free medical treatment initiated by the Nigerian Navy (NN).

About 800 persons residing in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State have benefited from free medical treatment initiated by the Nigerian Navy (NN).

NN carried out the medical exercise Monday to mark it’s medical Rhapsody programme which involved high blood pressure checks, diabetics screening, malaria test and treatment, de-worming, health talk, eye check and offering of recommended eye glasses.

Those who benefited from the medical outreach progragramme include traditional rulers, market women, youths aged, physically challenge and visually impaired.

While declaring the programme open the Nigeria Navy Diamond Jubilee Celebration Medical Rhapsody, the Flag Officer Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral James Oluwole who was represented by Commodore Tanko Pani, said that the medical Rhapsody was part of the landmark event organized by Navy whereby certain communities are being earmarked for medical attention to strengthen the Nigerian Navy civil relationship in the country.

He said apart from the eye-glasses being given to people with eye defects that can be corrected with concave and convex lenses residents with very severe eyes defects like cataract and Opacity will have to undergo surgery.

The medical rhapsody is simultaneously being carried out in Cross River and Borno States to alleviate the suffering of the people.

Earlier, the monarch of Yakurr, Obol Opon of Ugep, Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng thanked the Navy for bringing the medical outreach to his kingdom adding that this has never happen before in the history of Yakurr.
