FUNAAB hopeful of CEADESE sustainability

Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Kolawole Salako has expressed confidence that programmes under the Centre for Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), would be sustained and given necessary support by the university. Salako gave the assurance at the meeting of the principal officers with the International Accreditation Team of the Centre, who were in the university to inspect and accredit three of the programmes being run by CEADESE.

He stated that the university was motivated to be a World Bank Centre of Excellence through its internationalisation policy, which has greatly endeared the institution to neighbouring West African countries, like Liberia, Sierra-Leone and Gambia who have continued to send students to FUNAAB since 2008. Salako assured that the university would consolidate on previous achievements recorded through the centre by managing the equipment and funds judiciously.

While lauding the Federal Government for improved funding to the university in 2018, the vice-chancellor said the university would not rest on its oars, but ensure CEADESE is sustained through adequate funding and budgetary provisions.

The vice-chancellor informed the international panel of experts drawn from all over the world that the university has continued to build entrepreneurial skills of its students by promoting self-reliance and skill acquisition, in order to improve the employability of FUNAAB graduates among their peers.

Earlier, the leader of the International Accreditation Team, Deris Herrman, commended the university management for its support to the Africa Centre of Excellence, noting that they were in the university to accredit some of the courses being run by the centre. She assured the vice-chancellor of a robust and positive collaboration during their stay.
