Fifteen students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State were among 66 others chosen from four institutions in the Southwest to undergo a week-long intensive leadership training programme sponsored by the ‘Impact your world leadership initiative’.

The students were also awarded the sum of one hundred thousand naira scholarship financial grant each by the organisation.

The beneficiary universities are AAUA; Federal University, Oye Ekiti; Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA); and Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.

In his remarks, the vice chancellor, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, enjoined the lucky students to be good and worthy ambassadors of the university.

“You are some of our good students who have been doing well. You are our ambassadors, and I know you will do well where you are going. We are very proud of you and we will always be proud of you. You have done well and have been outstanding. That is why you have won the scholarship. It is my hope that you will win more laurels not only for yourselves but for the institution as well. Don’t forget that you have become ambassadors of this great university; therefore, you must never do anything that will tarnish its image. You must keep flying the flag of excellence that AAUA is known for.”

Prof. Ajibefun said the feat recorded by the students lends credence to the quality of academic knowledge being imparted.

The non-governmental organisation had last year conducted some rigorous academic tests in the four designated institutions where the final 66 candidates were chosen.

The organisation gave each of the winners one hundred thousand naira and also booked them for an all-expense-paid leadership training programme.
