Brand engages over 3,000 students at exam centres

There was excitement as two top brands from the stable of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, Nunu Milk and Premier Cool engaged over 3,000 students at the first round examination of its Chemistry Challenge, which took place recently in Agege, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Surulere and Amuwo Odofin areas of Lagos State. The two brands had jointly sponsored the fourth edition of the competition initiated in 2013 by PZ Cussons Foundation to stimulate, inspire and reward the study of science and chemistry in public and private senior secondary schools in the state.

During the formal unveiling of this year’s programme, the Executive Director for Brand Development and Activation, Christos Giouras, stated that the science contest has consistently made resounding impacts, spurring the interest of Nigerian students in the learning of chemistry. He added that the two brands are set to provide the emotional and physical experience for the candidates and the teachers at every level of the competition to spur them to victory as they contest for the most coveted chemistry prize in Nigeria.

The competition, designed to bring out the best in both students and teachers, comes in four stages. 100 participants with the best results will move to stage two to compete in another round of test. The top 24 participants will go on to stage three to compete in the practical test stage. Then the best six will qualify for the final stage, which will be conducted live on stage through a quiz format, after which, the highest scorer becomes the overall PZ Cussons Chemistry Challenge Champion for 2016/2017.

The first prizewinner will get a trophy and gold medal, N700,000 cash, laptop, N100,000 for the teacher and N100, 000 worth of laboratory equipment for the school represented. Second place prizewinner receives N450,000, laptop, N80,000 for the teacher and N80,000 worth of laboratory equipment for the school.

The third place prize gets N350,000 laptop, N70,000 for the teacher andN70,000 worth of laboratory equipment for the school. While the fourth place will go home with N250,000, laptop, N60,000 for the teacher and N60,000 worth of laboratory equipment for the school.

Launched in 2007, PZ Cussons Nigeria Foundation has been helping Nigerian communities by supporting projects in the areas of infrastructural improvement such as potable water, health, education and empowerment. The foundation has completed over 58 projects in different parts of the country.
