Church awards scholarships to exceptional indigent students

Rewards teachers, and ex-principals in state schools

The Fountain of Life Church through its Education Support Project (ESP) has awarded scholarships to 14 undergraduate students and rewarded 12 teachers for their outstanding performance.

It also gave a special recognition award to seven retired principals from the six state-owned schools in the Ilupeju area of Lagos State.

The Head of the Department, ESP, Mrs. Elizabeth Ademoye, said the gesture is part of the church’s corporate social responsibility to express and show love to the Ilupeju community.

Ademoye explained that the education support programme is a way of supporting indigents and giving them the opportunity to acquire formal education.

She said the church has been doing this since 2004, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with the mandate of the Senior pastor, Taiwo Odukoya.

Ademoye added that the scholarship was to encourage students around the community regardless of their religion, while beneficiaries were chosen without bias.

Odukoya, in his address, said: “it is our great joy to contribute to the success of the Ilupeju community. It is our desire to assist the government in making sure state-owned schools around the community are part of the best in the state.

Odukoya, who was represented by Pastor Kujore Tayo, said the church has done many successful projects in the community and it’s ready to do more.

He explained that the award was to motivate students and teachers to stay focused and be exemplary in their studies.

He congratulated beneficiaries for their efforts in their academic performance.

Shortlisted students were awarded the sum of N120,000 each, retired principals got N25,000 and teachers got N20,000 each.
