Constitute governing council for Edo varsity, ASUU tells Obaseki

Ambrose Alli University (AAU)
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has appealed to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State to constitute a governing Council for the institution to enable it function properly.
The union urged the governor to stop the frequent meetings by the Special Intervention Team (SIT) in the institution, saying allowances of STI members have taken a toll on the financial resources of the university.
Addressing newsmen in Benin City, the branch Chairman, Dr Oziegbe Onogbosele and Assistant Secretary, Dr William Odion, said since inception, SIT has not been able to achieve its mandate of generating funds for the school.
“Rather, its activities, including unnecessary frequent meetings to collect allowances have taken a toll on the financial resources of the University. The reports given by SIT to the governor and general public are diversionary.
On allegation of academic fraud in the university, ASUU dismissed the allegation and demanded that the details of the affected persons be published.
