The Vice Chancellor of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, Prof. Kayode Ijadunola, has urged Nigerian students to pursue the Asian Tiger countries’ model of academic acquisition not only in their careers but in life.
He said the model is driven by Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, which today enables the Asian Tiger countries to rule the world.
According to him, Elizade University is a leading technology-driven institution with most of its services digitalised and real time via unfettered Internet access for both members of staff and the students.
He said the vision of the institution is to be a globally competitive university that produces entrepreneurial, innovative and ethically-sound graduates, urging the students to be goal-driven and result-oriented.
The VC, who spoke while administering oath of matriculation on no fewer than 532 new students during 12th matriculation ceremony of the institution, said the mission of Elizade University is to endow students with appropriate skills and knowledge for the development of the nation and global competitiveness.
He said that the technology-driven institution prioritises modern pedagogy and a teaching philosophy that promotes self-directed learning.
Ijadunola, therefore, urged the matriculating students to allow the university to pass through them even as they pass through the university.
He also warned students against social media indulgence and the get-rich-quick syndrome and other vices that often derail them from attaining their academic goals.
