To instil leadership skills in their students, St. Augustine’s College Old Boys Foundation (SACKOBF), a body recently founded by some alumni of the school, has commenced a training programme for students at the college.

The initiative, titled ‘iLeadTM’ is designed to raise young people for local and global leadership.

In a catch-them-young move to develop leaders of tomorrow, SACKOBF sought and obtained technical assistance from the world-class leadership training organisation, John C. Maxwell Company, to train the staff and over 600 students of St. Augustine’s College, Kabba, in the art and real life application of leadership skills for now, and the future.

The workshop, themed: ‘Developing tomorrow’s leaders today,’ was formally launched by Chairman of the Foundation leadership committee, Mr Francis Onaiyekan, a certified trainer who has, among other specialised skills, significant experience in leadership training.

The training will run for 24 weeks, equipping students to lead themselves first, and in turn, others.

Prior to take-off, John Maxwell Foundation officials conducted virtual training for selected staff of the college, who in turn would use the activity-focused format of the manual to train the students in both theoretical and practical aspects of leadership.

Chairman, SACKOBF, Adebayo-Ige, said the foundation will enhance the the standard of secondary education by building character and improving the quality of infrastructure, academic, leadership, and recreational activities in the college.

Ige also assured of the foundation’s readiness to work towards making the school a leading light in secondary education, and a breeding place of not mere leaders, but transformational ones in the service of their immediate community, country, and the world at large.
