Two students of Chrisland Schools, Oluwabukolami Adeyemi and Mmesomachukwu Okonkwo recently emerged ‘Tops in the World’ in the Cambridge International AS Level and International General Certificate of Secondary Education(IGSCE) examinations respectively.
For their exemplary performance, the duo was honoured with the British Council Outstanding Cambridge Learners Awards. The Cambridge examinations are conducted in more than 145 countries worldwide.
Having gained the highest mark in English as second Language (Speaking Endorsement) in IGSCE, Okonkwo got the Top in the World award, while Adeyemi who gained the highest mark in the world in the Cambridge International AS Level Law, got Top in the World award as well as the High Achievement Award for Cambridge AS Level Psychology.
Speaking with journalists on the feat, a member of the school’s Advisory Board, Mr. Akin Fadeyi said Chrisland, over the years, has maintained a consistent track record for delivering qualitative and world-class education.
Fadeyi said with a crop of disciplined and committed staff members; the school is committed to raising great ambassadors who have been modeled in our community’s humane culture, values and ethics.
“We have always raised an enduring generation of leaders in all spheres of human endeavour, be it science, technology, arts and sports. He added that the latest milestone reinforced the ideals of their consistency, diligence, peerless curriculum template and an uncommon capacity in youth development.
“We are grateful to God who has always been our cornerstone even as we are fortunate to have been blessed with an amazing body of responsible and responsive parents who entrusted the all-round development of their children to us.
“Gratitude must always go to our Founder for her uncommon passion and overarching vision without which we would not have evolved and stepped on this glorious pedestal,” Fadeyi added.
Seventeen-year old Okonkwo, who aims to study Business Management in the United Kingdom said preparing for the examination was a bit challenging but with constant practice and support from her teachers, she did excellently well.
She said: “It was a bit challenging because it was a theory-based examination, and most of the exams written prior to that were all objective based, the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) I was preparing for as well, was mostly objective.”
“This is my first time ever taking something completely theoretical, it was a bit daunting for me. But during the course of my preparation with my school, the challenges became less because of regular practice that we went through,” she stated.
“I chose to study Business Management because I am passionate about business, and in a world where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is emerging, it is better to pick a course that one can move around with.
On her part, Adeyemi said with support from her lecturers, principal and parents, she was able to come out with excellent results.
