Cowbell celebrates 20 years of support for mathematics education

Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Anders Einarsson, explained that in the last two decades Cowbell Milk, the company’s flagship brand, has been involved in the improvement of standard of education in the country particularly in the subject area of mathematics.

The ultimate prize for this year’s edition is N1m and an all-expense paid educational excursion outside the country while the first and second runners-up will go home with N750, 000 and N500,000 respectively. <br />

Opportunities are here again for young Nigerians who have prowess in mathematics as the search for next inventor begins. The 2018 edition of Cowbellpedia Secondary Schools Mathematics TV Quiz show last Tuesday opened with excitement as Promasidor Nigeria Limited marked 20 years relationship of Cowbell and Mathematics.

Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Anders Einarsson, explained that in the last two decades Cowbell Milk, the company’s flagship brand, has been involved in the improvement of standard of education in the country particularly in the subject area of mathematics.

The Cowbellpedia initiative comprises of Cowbellpedia Secondary Schools Mathematics TV Quiz Show, Cowbellpedia Radio (a Mathematics class on radio) and Cowbellpedia Mobile App (Mathematics Q&A mobile application).

“These platforms have been able to arouse and re-awaken the interest of students in Mathematics at the secondary school level and further reinforced the importance of the subject,” he said.He informed that the company launched a compendium, a compilation of solved questions from the past Cowbellpedia Secondary School Mathematics TV Quiz Show editions for each category. This is to improve proficiency of students in Mathematics and commemorate the 20th anniversary.

He maintained that the competition is open to students in JSS 3 and SSS2 from 10 to 18 years of age attending full time secondary education in both public and private schools in Nigeria.

While entry into this competition is free, candidates have two stages to reach the final and win the ultimate prizes. Einarsson also announced that the company has raised the bar with a 100 percent increase of the prize money for this year’s edition as winners in both categories would now receive N2m and an all-expense paid educational excursion outside the country, while the first and second runners-up would receive N1.5m and N1m respectively.

The teachers of the top prize winners will win N500,000, while those of the first and second runners-up will receive N400,000 and N300,000 respectively.Also, Marketing Manager,of the company, Abiodun Ayodeji, announced that registration for this year is strictly online and the portal for registration is open and would be closed on February 11, 2018 while the qualifying examination would take place nationwide on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at various designated centres.

Also speaking at the event, Director of Quality Assurance, National Examination Council (NECO), Dr. Ikechukwu Anyanwu, lauded the company for the initiative, which he affirmed has been of tremendous benefits to Mathematics education in Nigeria.
