FUDMA to convocate 44 first-class students, over 4,000 others

The Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA), Katsina State, is set to convocate 44 first-class students at its 9th convocation ceremony to be held next Saturday.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Armaya’u Bichi, who stated this Wednesday at a press conference, also said the wife of the President, Remi Tinubu, and three others, would be awarded honorary degrees during the event.

Bichi said 4,088 graduates would be convocating, while 307 students, including those with Diplomas, Masters, and PhDs, would also be convocating the same day.

The VC said four prominent Nigerians would be awarded honorary degrees, including Remi Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senator Aliyu Wamako, and House of Representatives member, Hon. Kabir Abubakar.

He said Tinubu would be honoured with a Doctorate in the English Language for her exemplary leadership in promoting girl-child education in the country.

According to him, “Remi Tinubu facilitated the release of some female students of the university who were kidnapped some time ago by bandits.

“A female hostel with a 36-bed capacity and built using internally generated revenue by the university would also be named after Remi Tinubu.”

He said Senator Akpabio would receive an honorary doctorate in political science in recognition of his exemplary leadership and contributions to the growth of the institution.

He said Senator Wamako contributed immensely to promoting security in FUDMA, while Abubakar had supported the institution for years and had built two faculties, two hostels, as well as two lecture theatres.
