The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) has donated some modern facilities and upgraded a chemistry laboratory in the University of Jos.

Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi, the Chief Executive Officer of NOTAP inaugurated the upgraded laboratory on Tuesday in Jos.

Speaking at the event, Amadiola explained that the gesture was in collaboration with PZ Cussons Nig. Plc.

She said that the move aimed at promoting research and development, particularly in higher institutions.

“Research and development is the cornerstone toward nation building; and we cannot have effective research without equipment and a conducive environment.

“This informed our decision to donate some modern equipment and upgrade the Chemistry laboratory of the University of Jos.

“We have so far done similar gestures in six higher institutions across Nigeria; this is the seventh.

“NOTAP is poised toward supporting research and development and this gesture is part of such a move,”she said.

Speaking, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, the Vice Chancellor of the university, thanked NOTAP for the gesture.

He said that the gesture would go a long way toward addressing the infrastructure deficit in the university.

“This is a joyous move and we are very happy for the gesture.

“One of the challenges of universities across the globe is infrastructural deficit, but with this support from NOTAP, it means there is hope for a better tomorrow.

“With this gesture, we are proud to say that we now have a chemistry laboratory where we can carry out all kinds of chemical analysis within the university,” he said.
